Teachers and Students of Renmin Law School Attended the International Symposium on Enhancing Environmental Law & Governance in China

Between November 11th and 12th, 2017, ¡°the International Symposium on Enhancing Environmental Law & Governance in China¡± was successfully held in Shanghai. The symposium was organized by School of Law, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Scholars from Mainland China, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, the United States, Denmark, India and other countries participated.

Professor Zhu Xiao and three PhD students attended the symposium. Three PhD students majored in the Environmental Law were Wu Kaijie, Tian Shiyu and Wang Shenghang. It was notable that Wu Kaijie and Tian Shiyu were the only two PhD student speakers in the meeting, after the selection of submitted English papers by the organizer. On the morning of November 12th, the fourth panel entitled ¡°Public Participation and Public Interest Litigation¡± was moderated by Professor Zhu Xiao. Wu Kaijie delivered a report named ¡°Public Participation in China¡¯s Environmental Legislation ¨C Environmental Democracy¡±. Associate Professor Zhao Yuhong from Faculty of Law, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, made a speech entitled ¡°Judicial Review and Public Participation in Environmental Impact Assessment¡±. Tian Shiyu delivered a report named ¡°the Revision of China¡¯s Environmental Impact Assessment Law: a ¡®Step Back¡¯?¡± A heated and in-depth discussion was carried out.

The participation of our teachers and students aimed at promoting the internationalization of discipline, improving the cultivation of PhD, and training the team of talents.
