¡¡

The first batch of students of ¡°iLaw Elite¡± Talent Growth Support Program took another journey to the United States this summer. They went to Washington and Boston to study and have international communication with students abroad.

At 8 o,clock in the morning on July 14th, US Eastern Time, after nearly 30 hours of rushing, 18 students arrived at the Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC, under the leadership of three team leaders, and started an 11-day US exchange experience. On the afternoon of July 15th, "iLaw Elite" students met with other students attending the Georgetown University Summer Program.

In the following week, the students began their study of the US Constitution. Professor Baker gave lectures from the perspectives of ¡°Federal Structure and Separation of Powers¡±, ¡°Administrative Power and Presidential System¡±, ¡°Contents of Legislative Power and Congress¡± and ¡°Judicial System¡±, combined with the contents of the ¡°The Federalist Papers¡±. In addition to Professor Baker,s series of lectures, Professor Barnett, Director of the Constitutional Research Office at Georgetown University, and Amul Thapar, a judge of the US District Court, also came to give excellent speeches. Professor Barnett analyzed the sources of natural rights such as private property rights and contract freedom from three dimensions of knowledge, interests and power. Judge Amul Thapar introduced the status and role of the judiciary in the constitutional structure of the United States, and answered questions from students.

In addition to class study, the Georgetown University Summer Program also included valuable opportunities to visit the Supreme Court, the Houses of Parliament, the Presidential Executive Building, and the White House, in which students gained a different experience.

After a week of study at Georgetown University, ¡°iLaw Elite¡± students traveled to Boston, capital of Massachusetts, one of the oldest and most culturally valuable cities in the United States, to continue their study and visit. On the morning of July 22nd, the students arrived in Boston. Under the leadership of Vice Professor Guo Rui, the students visited the campus of Harvard University. On July 23rd, the participants visited the Kennedy Library. Just as President Kennedy said, ¡°A man will die, a nation may rise and fall, but an idea lives on¡±, his political philosophy has survived to this day. On the morning of July 24th, the students came to the Ropes & Gray law firm with more than 150 years of history.

On the afternoon of July 24th, ¡°iLaw Elite¡± students went to Harvard Law School to meet with Professor Alford, Associate Dean of Harvard Law School and Director of the East Asian Law Research Center. Professor Alford first welcomed the arrival of ¡°iLaw Elite¡± students on behalf of Harvard Law School and reviewed the partnership between Harvard Law School and RUC Law School. So far, the ¡°iLaw Elite¡± Talent Growth Support US Summer Study Program came to an end. In Harvard Law School Austin Hall with more than 130-year history, Yan Fang, (Deputy Secretary of Party Committee), Guo Rui ("iLaw Elite" project tutor), Xiao Jing (Secretary of the Communist Youth League), and Huang Hao (Associate Secretary of the Communist Youth League), together with 18 students, summarized the feelings and gains of eleven days, and drew a successful conclusion for the trip to the United States.
