Dean of Chulalongkorn University Law School visited Renmin Law School


On March 5th, 2019, Prof. Wang Yi, Dean of Renmin Law School, met with Prof. Pareena Srivanit, Dean of Chulalongkorn University Law School. Prof. Cheng Lei, Vice Dean of Renmin Law School, and Assistant Prof. Xiong Bingwan also attended the meeting.

Chulalongkorn University is one of the most prestigious universities in Thailand. Its law school, established in 1933, is widely recognized as the cradle of a number of most talented legal practitioners in Thailand and world wide.

Dean Wang expressed his genuine welcome to Dean Pareena Srivanit. He pointed out that the partnership between Renmin Law and Chulalongkorn Law marks the pilot cooperation program of Renmin Law in Thailand. Therefore, Dean Srivanit’s visit could be the start of a long-term partnership between the two law schools.During the meeting, Dean Wang also invited students from Chulalongkorn University Law School to attend the 2019 International Forum for Law School Students hosted by Renmin University. The two Deans further elaborated on possible areas for future cooperation, including bilateral exchange programs, short-term visits and student forums.

Dean Srivanitappreciated Dean Wang’s invitation and hospitality. She introduced the current law curriculum at the university, and further detailed the LL.M. programs on commercial law for international students. According to Dean Srivanit, an increasing number of Thai students are learning Chinese because of the Belt and Road Initiative. Therefore, she hoped the cooperation with Renmin would offer great opportunities to Thai students to learn Chinese legal system.

On March 6th,Dean Srivanit, along with Assistant Prof. Arm Tungnirum, shared the school’s experience in legal clinic education with Prof. Pan Wenjun, Associate Prof.Jiang Dong, Associate Prof. Guo Rui and Assistant Prof. Xiong Bingwan.
