Chinese Law Summer Program

Renmin University of China Law School and Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law jointly launched Chinese Law Summer Program in late 1990s. Each year (from mid-May to mid-June), Renmin Law School receives JD students in the US to study Chinese law for one month. In recent years, this program also attracted students from other countries, such as Canada, Australia, etc.

During the one-month summer program, the students will have following courses concerning Chinese law:

1. Overview of the Chinese Legal System

2. Lawyering System of China

3. Constitutional Law of China

4. Intellectual Property Law of China

5. Environmental Law of China

6. Foreign Investment and Joint Ventures in China

7. Labor Law of China

8. Company Law of China

9. Contract Law of China

10. Arbitrating Disputes with Chinese Entities

All are taught by Renmin Law School faculty members in English.
The students will also attend some field trips to legal organizations in Beijing, such as the National Peoples Congress, Supreme Peoples Court of China, Ministry of Commerce, Chinese International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission and law firms.

Chinese Law Summer Program provides a platform on which foreign students could know about Chinese law and experience the legal practice in China. It also provides an opportunity for Chinese students to communicate with students overseas.
